About This Spot

Laterna Taverna sits quietly along Tombs of the Kings Avenue in Paphos, offering a genuine slice of Cypriot hospitality. Stepping inside, you’re welcomed by an easygoing, familiar rhythm—the pace is unhurried, the lighting warm and inviting, the kind of place where locals and travelers alike feel at home without fuss.

The atmosphere is comfortably tucked between tradition and simple charm. There’s a certain unpretentious spirit here, where the focus gently falls on sharing good food and conversation. The friendly smiles from the staff and the soft hum of casual gatherings create a mood that encourages lingering over a meal rather than rushing through it.

Laterna’s kitchen seems to quietly honor the island’s rich culinary heritage without overshadowing it. Plates arrive abundant with fresh flavors and familiar textures, showing care in every detail, from meze selections to grilled specialties. It’s the kind of place where the halloumi sings alongside tender grilled meats, and seafood, caught from nearby waters, carries a subtle trace of the sea with it. This is a spot where you can savor time as much as a dish, whether you’re sampling village salad or enjoying a leisurely glass of local wine introduced with warmth and a gentle nod to tradition.

For those drawn to places where food is an invitation to slow down and connect—with the land, the culture, and the people—Laterna Taverna offers an experience anchored in sincerity. It’s a place to discover not just flavors, but moments of uncomplicated joy amid the heart of Paphos.

The restaurant looks really nice and the lady is very friendly. I got the cypriot pita with lountza and halloumi and it was really good, I could tell everything was fresh. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!

We decided to eat here because it was about 30 secs walk from our hotel. The prices were also good. Now... the food did not disappoint. We ordered the seafood sphagetti , lamb chops and fresh humus. Absolutely amazing. Staff were very friendly. Food fresh, lovely seasoning and perfect customer service!!! 100% recommended Underrated for sure!!!

I ordered a beaf steak and it was good and big but the medium cooked was a bit tough to eat. The haloumi was really good though. The atmosphere was as for a typical taverna although they close at 11 pm. In general, a good taverna but there is room for improvement.

Perfect place if you like meat&and grill. All is delicious, meat is 10/10. If you decide to try traditional Meze, this is right place. Staff is super friendly, for us owner made short course into red vine drinking traditions. Highly recommended.

Excellent restaurant with absolutely good possibility to try some cypriot dishes and desserts. The waiters are polite, helpful and always glad. My favourite one, that i really recommend, is baklava with ice cream. If you are a tourist in Paphos, take a look and come here! It’s really delicious and clean here.

Fantastic restaurant and I was fortunate enough to cone across it early in my stay and so have returned many times, and this is not something I usually do. Friendly service and excellent food, fresh ingredients and well cooked as well as fairly priced. The owners are helpful and accommodating and not only do from of house but cook too. I truly would highly recommend this for authentic Cypriot food.

A great little local find is this. Chris and the staff really look after you and we visited 3x during our stay. Each time, lovely home cooked food and some good chats. Highly recommend a visit and the Sea Bass. Cheers Chris, all the best, thanks for some lovely experiences, hope we'll be back soon. Mr Mark

Lovely authentic cypriot taverna with local food. Prices are low, service is fast and food is great! You have to try the kleftiko slow cooked lamb. It melts in your mouth.
